Handwoven raffia set of 6 placemats with color-coordinated napkin rings.
These Madagascan made placemats are labour intense to produce as they require a multi-faceted production process. The strips of straw are hand-dyed using predominantly natural pigments. They are then left drying on the roofs and across the fences of the producers rural homes. Once dry, the straw is expertly handwoven to produce sheets of raffia. These are then cut to size and completed with intricately stitched borders and detailing.
The placemats can be hand-washed with a sponge and mild detergent.
An ideal accessory to dress up your mealtime table for everyday use or special occasions. They also make for a wonderful house-warming, engagement gift or gift to self!
