From the field to fabric - an ancient art that has been taught across three generations. Renowned for producing the softest, high quality, organic cotton fabrics. The family have a plot of land in Indonesia where they grow their organic cotton and producing exquisite thread in their workshop shed.
They have ancient looms that are generations old and require skill and a delicacy to use. THe weavers choose to sit on the floor in a yoga lotus position for 6 hours at a time. Watching them weaving is like witnessing a symphony of sound, color and texture.
Once the cotton has been spun it is hand-dyed using plant based dyes - such as licorice root, tumeric bark, mango pulp and various other flora and fauna indigenous to their land.
The process of weaving the colored thread requires expert dexterity in order to create a consistancy of design .
Each scarf produced is unique in tone and texture and illustrates the artisans labour of love.
